Life ends when you stop dreaming...
Hope ends when you stop believing...
Love ends when you stop caring... and...
friendship ends when you stop sharing.

This is one of the pages I did while I was away last week. I started three I think but couldn't finish them there because I didn't have all my stuff with me. I don't normally do single pages but I just love this photo of my boy and wanted to use it on its own. He is such a beautiful boy and he knows it. I decided to go with black and cream and I love this paper from Fabscraps, and the chipboard cat was just purrfect for this page.

Wednesday was a fabulous day, we all piled into the combi and headed to Zebula to go and play with the cubs. We started with the Tigers, which were amazing as they are not indigenous to Africa. They are so beautiful and playful and very strong.
On the way to the cubs we went past the meerkats. I love these little guys so inquisitive.
And the crocodile enclosure. They also have a reptile area but as I don't do snakes I passed on that one.
The Lion cubs were also very cute and not very playful. They just wanted to sleep and I can't say that I blame them, it was very hot.
Then we went to the Cheetahs... they were also amazing and purred just like cats. They were big too, Tarzan and Jane :-)
All of that was very thirsty work so we headed to the veranda for a well deserved drink or two, before heading back home, tired and very happy.
More tomorrow.
DAY TWENTY-THREE : A picture of my favourite book
So I have two favourite books, books that I have read over and over again, two very different books. The first one is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho - I am a huge fan of all his books but this one had a huge impact on my life and the way I see things. The second book is Mercy by David Lindsey, a serial murder - I am morbidly facinated by the minds of serial killers, what can I say.

Tuesday morning and we were all up bright and early. Found these little guys up on our roof.... too cute.
And this Franklin - such a noisy little guy.
We also got visited by this little warthog family. The little baby was so cute. They were not shy at all.
I have to say that Ilse was a little nervous of them coming so close, clearly they are used to human company because they came right to doors of the house to see what was going on. But she was ready to do battle with them with a feather duster.
It was unbelievably hot there and in the afternoon we took a leisurely stroll down to the pool for a dip. Then back to the grindstone. Every one doing their own thing, knitting, painting, decoupage, scrapping, crochet stamping, making boxes for wedding invitations, reading and even napping.
We have been going away together for many years now and have been to Haartbeespoort Dam, Witbank Dam, South Coast and Mabula. I love that we can go away together and do our own thing and it is such a chilled break. Loads of laughter - till your sides ache. Too much food - all of it yummy. Exotic drinks - not enough of them, and wonderful company. It is very special for me to be able to share this time with the girls.

Ilse, Mel and Felicity arrived to pick me up at 9.30 on Monday morning. Already the combi was full and still Ilse found room for all of my stuff and we hit the road. I love road trips with the girls. Pam, Vanessa and Suzi were in another car and Beryl was meeting us at our first coffee stop.
And yes there was plenty of room for us girls too.
We arrived at Mabula at 2.30 in the afternoon only to be told that we could only check in at 3.30 so we headed to the main restaurant area for a cocktail and a light lunch and also to wait for the other girls who had gone on an elephant ride. (Note to self: Don't miss out on that one next time)
Unpacking was a mission. How could eight girls have so much stuff for one week. Well because we had come to craft. Bedrooms were chosen, bags were unpacked and cupboards and fridges were stocked. We had a chicken couscous and roasted vegetable salad for dinner and settled down to do some crafts.
Our first visitor was a bush pig that came to visit every night that we were there. We named him Fred - Right said Fred, and we were also visited by a porcupine, whom we did not name, and I am not sure why. He was very big and kind of pretty in an ugly way. He came to visit a couple of times.
I think the first night the last of the girls fell into bed around two am.

DAY TWENTY-ONE : A picture of something I wish I could forget
So I think the things that I wish I could forget are the time that I have taken it all for granted and there have been a great many. So I want to say that I am truly grateful for my life and everyone that is in it and if I have ever hurt you, ignored you, or made you feel un-appreciated or un-loved I am so sorry.... I never want to take anything for granted again.

Monday Monday so good to me...... and Leaving on a Jet Plane have been playing over and over in my head since I woke up this morning....
I am so excited now to be going away with the girls. Eight girls going to Mabula for a week of crafting. Going to be a whole lot of fun, and when I get back I will have the photos to prove it.
I always find going away so stressful, what do I pack to wear? Will it be hot or cold? Will I need something fancy? What am I going to do while I am away? Am I going to read? am I going to scrap? OMG what am I going to scrap? Maybe I should stamp. What stamps will I need? What if I want to colour in the images? Paints or inks. By now I am sitting in my chair playing on my computer because it is easier than trying to think of what I need to pack. Do you know how much STUFF eight girls can cart on our weeks away.... lots! The easiest decision for me is what will I drink? Yes!
But now I am packed and excited to go. So I will be back with more posts and some photos on Friday. Have a fabulous week all of you and I will leave you with one photo of just my stuff waiting to go ;-)

DAY NINETEEN : A picture of me when I was young...
This is me at sweet 16 - I remember the outfit I was wearing it was creams, beige and brown... hot pants and a longing top with lacing up the front and I wore it with a brown suede choker and brown suede boots and matching sling bag and I was sizzling let me tell you. I love the hair, you would think that the photographer would tell me I had a hole in my fringe.... Geeesh!

DAY SEVENTEEN : A picture of something that has made a huge impact on my life recently
That would have to be that both of my children have now left home. I thought that I was ok with that. I had raised two independent children and I was ok with them doing their own thing and I was delighted that they were moving into flats next door to one another. Oh boy was I wrong. It was devastating to have such a quiet house. I am ok now and I see them often but it took me a long time to come to terms with the fact that now no-one needed me. It was a huge adjustment.
