ROYAL WEDDING MANIA

I didn't blog yesterday because I was busy :) like the 2 billion others who were watching the Royal Wedding. I put the heater and TV on in my studio, got facebook going. Got my cup of tea and a hot cross bun and that was me for the day...

I waited with bated breath to see what she looked like and although she is one gorgeous girl who would look good in a sack I have to say that I was a wee bit disappointed to begin with and I couldn't put my finger on it. I just felt she looked too plain, I have to say that the dress grew on me and I thought it was exquisite and very proper for a Royal wedding. I think for me it was her hair and headdress. I am not a fan of long straight hair at the best of times and I thought she looked like she plonked the tiara and veil on. I know she wanted to wear flowers but they wouldn't let her because the brides always wear a tiara. Maybe the flowers would have been nicer. I am not sure. Anyway enough of that. She looked absolutely radiant and regal and I am sure the Queen would have been really pleased with her.

I thought William looked very handsome in his uniform as did Harry.

I used to think as a child he took after Diana completely. Now I am not so sure I see so much of his father in him.

I have to give it to the Brits - they sure know how to put on a great show. I loved her face when she came out onto the balcony and saw all those people, and then of course there was the kiss..... aaaaaahhhhh.

I hope that they have a happy life. I think they deserve it and it looks like she knows what she is in for so I say GOOD LUCK to them.

Have a wonderful long weekend again and hopefully tomorrow I will have some more pages to post.

THURSDAY THERAPY

Whoop whoop it's Thursday again and that means Thursday Therapy. Had another fabulous day with the sisters this morning, and I have a page to show you from Des Casserley this week.

I love her style, uncluttered and fun. Thanks for sharing Desi.

I have nearly finished another of the Bo Bunny pages and will put it up as soon as I am done. Thanks for stopping by.

FREEDOM DAY

Happy Freedom Day to all you amazing South Africans, I hope you have all had a wonderful day. I know I have... A very lazy day.

Because all of these holidays have thrown me badly I don't have any new pages for you but I do have some favourite pages that I would like to share with you.

This first one I did because I loved this picture of Simon - don't you think he looks like Grisham from CSI. I also never realised just how blue his eyes were before.

Two years ago Simon went to Amsterdam for the Cleaning Fair - the biggest there is, and he took me with him. I just loved Amsterdam - all of it. I loved these taxi with the horses. I think that is is probably one of my all time favourite pages. You know the ones that you get and you never tire of looking at them.

This was also inspired by Amsterdam. I loved all the bicycles and the fact that they had bicycle parkade's three stories high. I want to know how you find your bike again.

This last one was pictures from Ground Zero in NYC when we went there seven years ago. We spent about three hours at this little church that was right in the middle of all the mayhem and remained totally unscathed. Truly a miracle and I loved it. I don't think anything has ever gotten to me quite the way that place did.

Another one of my all time favourite pages - from the layout that Tiffany Nadauld taught at the Scrapbook Ex a couple of years ago....

ANOTHER SHORT WEEK

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter whatever you were doing, and that you were spoilt by the Easter Bunny.  We had a relatively quiet weekend and so I was able to re-organise all of my albums which are all full to overflowing.

And, because I like everything to match :) I found these wonderful Denim covered albums at our local Pick 'n Pay store and I bought 20 in total (and now I can't find them anymore and I need more:()

Anyway so I sorted them into :

Simon, Val, Clint, Storm, Home, Pets, Friends, Things we do, Places we go, Celebrations, Scrapbook Convention, Cars, Family, and so on and then I personalised each one with paint, flowers, stickers and letters and I love them. They look so nice as they sit on the shelf.

This is the one I did for my son when he was a baby....

SIMPLY SATURDAY

It's Saturday, it's cold, it's rainy and we are off to my favourite dive for lunch and it is a dive but they make the best portuguese chicken I have ever tasted. Every time we go there I buy a bottle of their hot sauce and I eat it with everything. I will take some pics at lunch today.

I have finished another one of  the Bo Bunny layouts that we did at Beautiful Scrapbooks with the very talented Ada... I have to say that I think this might be my very favourite page so far, and just maybe that has something to do with the subject. :)

So whatever you are doing today I hope you enjoy it...

10 THINGS I LEARNED FROM THE EASTER BUNNY

10 Things I learned from the Easter Bunny...

Don't put all your eggs into one basket
The best things in life are still sweet and gooey
Walk softly and carry a big carrot
Good things come in small sugar coated packages
Everyone needs a friend who is all ears
There is no such thing as too much candy
Keep your paws off other peoples chocolates
Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day
All work and no play will make you a basket case
The grass is always greener in someone else's basket
An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare
To show your true colours you have to come out of your shell
Some body parts should be floppy
Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits..

HAPPY EASTER....

HUMP DAY

It's hump day again and we have a short week this week with Easter. So, if any of you are going away please travel safe.

This is the third of the double pages that we did from Bo Bunny and I think it is my favourite page. The title was our family but I chose to change it to our wedding. I did an album with the few photos that I did have from our wedding when I first started scrap booking. I have now found my style and I hate some of the earlier pages that I did... cutting out the photos and stuff... what was I thinking.

Anyway when I got married I chose not to do the whole white fairy tale thing. Instead I opted for a very small wedding in our garden. Just my grand parents, parents and siblings and Simon's parents and his siblings. I wore a gorgeous grecian mint coloured dress with a scarf tied around my head. My gran made my flowers for my head and my bouquet  from paper and they were exquisite. Simon was in the police and we had the police photographer take the pictures. I only got about 20 (the only thing I would do different), and this is the only photo I have of me with my mom and dad. I don't know what happened to all the family photos and my dad was a big cine fan so a lot of the stuff was captured on film. That fact alone makes this page very special for me. My mother died four years after I got married, and there is still not a day goes by that I don't miss her and wish that I could see her just one more time. I was also so young here, married at just 21, and Simon was 22, seriously. This year we have been married for 34 years, quite a feat today.

WE FIT TOGETHER

This is another one of the pages that we did on Saturday and I chose to use the puzzle pieces for the Thursday Therapy Group, because we do fit together. We all get on really well and enjoy each others company and the times that we have been away together. So for me it was no brainer. :)

What I love about pages from days like this and from the conventions is that they may not be my style, but they challenge me to try different things, colours or looks and that can only be a good thing.

HELLO MONDAY

On Saturday I spent the day with Ilse and Jess McCarthy at Beautiful Scrapbooks for a day of Bo Bunny scrapping. There were about 15 girls in all, doing the wonderful pages of Ada Nicholls. I had such a good time.

We started of the day with a treasure hunt (in the rain) looking for a scrapping item. Found by yours truly and little bottle of pink glitter. The prize for this was a huge Lindt Chocolate Easter Bunny.

We had tea with hot cross buns in the morning. A lovely lunch for a rainy day of soup and rolls. And as afternoon tea was these gorgeous chocolate cup cakes.

We also made 6 double pages... well we were supposed to do six double pages. I never finish pages at anything I go to. I like to go and join in the fun but I like to do my pages at home where I have all my stuff.

Here is the first of my finished pages. This one was YOU ROCK MY WORLD, and I love it. I loved the colours that we worked with, brown, cream, turquoise, and peach. I think that Bo Bunny is one of my favourite ranges and this was no exception. I will post the other ones as I finish them.

Thanks for stopping by.

SAILING

I thought I would share a page that I have just finished. It was a travel pack that I got from Benice Basson and I just loved the papers and things that were in it. I started working on it before I went away and I finished it yesterday.

I used the photos from the Rhapsody Scrapping Cruise that I went on a couple of years back with some friends. Was one of the most fun things that I have ever done. Can recommend to anyone who gets the chance to do it.

PHUKET HOLIDAY

Here are some of my favourite images or memories from Phuket...

The little touches in the pathways.

The flowers at the entrance to the hotel.

The daily massages, the foot massage will always be my favourite.

It's all in the detail.

The stunning orchid displays at the airport. My favourite flowers by far.

I love flowers and was amazed at the different ones you get there. So pretty.

One of the things I love about Thailand is the complete contradictions. The poverty and the majestic temples. The foul smell of sewerage as you walk the streets and the amazing smells of the food. The beauty of the flowers and the horrendous mess of the electric cables. The fact that they work seemingly 24 hours a day and they are always happy. I really do love Thailand.

THURSDAY THERAPY

We didn't have TT today because we had it yesterday instead. Was so nice to have it early this week because I missed last week with being away. We had such a good time catching up. I promised that on Thursday's I would showcase some of the other girls work and today I am going to show you another one of Cher's pages. I love her work and she is a prolific scrapper.

Cher used loads of bling on this page to fit the Theme of Madame Zingara. She completely covered the title letters in glitter.

And in addition she used lots of flowers which she also blinged up.

A really fun page for a really fun night out.

DESK DUSTBINS

Look what I got for my studio. I know that most of you have seen these before or received them from one of the conventions. I gave mine to my daughter who doesn't have much space to scrap (and it was the wrong colour for me). These ones were made for me by a very talented friend Susie McWilliams, they are made from denim on the outside and you can choose your colour for inside. So I chose baby blue to match my studio and I received them yesterday (Wednesday) at TT. I am so thrilled with them, she makes them and sells them.

I love the little blue butterfly on the sand bag. They are just so nice. Thank you so much Susie.

PHUKET HOLIDAY

We did a day trip to Krabi... was actually four islands. So beautiful. Departed from the harbour in a large ferry to Nopparat Thara Beach where we switched to a speed boat.

Our nest stop was Talay Waek where at low tide you can walk between the islands.

Such a fabulous swimming spot. Then we stopped off  for some snorkelling... my favourite thing to do. I love all the coloured fish and corals that you see. The boys loved it too.

Then we visited Chicken Island because of the shape of this piece of rock.

The to Railay Beach for lunch and more swimming :-) We had a lovely Thai meal here too.

Our last stop of the day was at Phranang Cave. Another pretty Island with a cave and a shrine.

And yes you are seeing right the cave is filled with penises. The story goes that Princess Phra Nang lived there many years ago and her husband was lost at sea and she waited for him to come back. Now I am not sure how the penises came to be but they believe that this island is blessed with fertility and so they carve their phallic symbols and leave them there. There is also a belief that if you carve a penis anywhere in the area and throw it out to see it will eventually wash up in the cave.

Then it was time to go back to Rasada Harbour and get the big ferry back home... A long and tiring but very interesting day.
