12 TAGS OF 2015 - JANUARY

Hello Everyone

I am here with a quick post because I want to get this in before the deadline. I have seen so many people playing along with Tim Holtz and his 12 Tags of 2015 so I thought I would check it out and loved what I saw and so I made some time to play this afternoon. This is the first time I have just done something just for me, and for no reason other than I wanted to play and I had such fun. I think I am going to try and get all 12 done. :)

Here is my tag.

Most of the stuff I used on here was his product. I didn't have the plastic words and numbers but I made do with chipboard. This was so much fun to do and my hands are so dirty :P Not sure how I will cope with that but I loved the whole process. I followed his steps pretty much as is.... The colours haven't really photographed as nicely as it looks in real life but it is very overcast this afternoon.

Here are some closeups.

I wanted to add some stars and I had some of his grunge board die cuts which I painted with the gold distress paint and then I added a little teal metalic rub to them too. I also added a couple of flowers which I coloured with Peacock Feathers distress stain to get the right colour.

The coarse seam binding was also coloured using Peacock Feathers distress stain and a little of the walnut stain too.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look and for taking the time to leave me a comment - I really appreciate it.

Till next time - Happy Scrapping!

KEEP CALM AND EAT A CUPCAKE

Hello Everyone

I have a card for you for Sketch #113 over a Feeling Sketchy

This sketch challenge is sponsored by the Digi Shoppe and they sent us this image to play with.

I am not one for cutesy images or colouring in really but I thought I would go outside of my comfort zone and give it a try.

Here is what I came up with.

I printed the image onto watercolour paper and cut it out and matted it onto the pink cardstock. The image was coloured in using my neo pens and an aqua brush. I added the quote and the ribbon and flowers.
I enjoyed playing with it and who knows I may even give it a go again. :)

The next project is my layout for Let's Scrap Sketches #1-14-15 which has closed but I thought I would share my layout anyway.

Here is the sketch.

It has been a while since I did a double pager and I had a lot of fun doing it.

I am absolutely in love with Maja Design papers and I knew when I saw these photos of my darling Paige that I wanted to use them. I changed the photos to black and white because I wanted a vintage feel to the layout. I also tinted them slightly with a sage green tint. I have kind of kept to the sketch but opted not to go with all the little bits of paper.

Mu journalling on the back of the tags says:

I don't think I will ever get tired of being entertained by you Miss Paige. You are a delightful and engaging creature that is here to live out loud, and live out loud you do. You are the one who demands attention and cuddles as often as possible, your face lights up when you see the people that you love and there is no mistaking what you are feeling. You are all over the place, up and down, exploring, standing, sitting and flitting from one thing to the next with the seeming attention of a goldfish, but you are like a sponge learning, experiencing and soaking it all in. You know what you want and want it all and you want it now and you invariably get your own way, but you do it in such a sweet way that you draw people in to your little world. You get so excited by the things you do for the first time like sitting, crawling, standing and taking your first steps. I hope that I am always able to see things the way you do for the are exciting and the world is your oyster and I will love you fiercely until I draw my final breath.

Here are some close-ups.

The little quotes on either side of the layout are from Kaiser Craft and were perfect for my Paige. The letters for the title were silver and I painted them with gesso and some distress paint to age them a bit.

I added the flowers and painted them with some gesso and added some Lindy's Stamp Gang mists to get the colours I wanted.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look and for taking the time to leave me a comment. It really makes my day.

Till next time - Happy Scrapping!

WINTER WONDERLAND

Hello Everyone

I am back from a brief getaway and what a wonderful time we had - We spent a few days in the Midlands at Oaklands before going to our place at the coast for a few days. We got back just in time for the twins first birthday :D

So... that means I am a bit late in posting my layout for CSI and this month is a collaborations with Words and Paintery So you can make one layout for two challenges. So pop on over and check them out.

and

Here is my layout.

Here is how I solved the case.

Scheme - the colours are all there
Evidence - stripes (wood paper), snowflakes, three of something (scallops), rhinestones/glitter, scallops, ribbon.
Testimony - Today is the first day ...., Winter writing prompt - The five senses with regard to winter and IW frozen, overcome and celebrate.

My journalling (on the back of the layout) says:

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to have a white Christmas and we are NEVER going to get it here in South Africa - so we had to overcome our obstacles and make another plan and that plan was to go to Ireland for Christmas (still no snow) and then Scotland to celebrate Hogmanay (New Year) where we did get snow. Lots of it!
I will never forget waking up that first morning and looking out the window and seeing the whole little town of Pitlochry covered in crisp, white, sparkling snow. I don't think I have ever seen anything so beautiful. I dressed warm and went outside where two things struck me and the first was how hard the snow can be if it is thick enough and the other thing was the individual snow flakes.... they really look like that. I was like a child at Christmas. Snowball fights, snow angels, snow falling on to your tongue and catching in your hair and I don't think I have ever been so cold before it was - 21. I remember that it was so cold it hurt to breathe and when  breathed out I made vapour. My hands and nose so cold I couldn't feel them. Then frozen to the core going inside for hot chocolate with marshmallows and a fire to warm me up.
I don't think I would like to live with winters like that but I realised that if I want to grow I have to experience as much as I can and and much diversity as I can and also that today is indeed the first day of the rest of your life so don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today because it may just be too late.

Here are some close ups.

I used the same photo in black and white and in colour.  The title and the snowflakes were cut with my silhouette machine and then I added the glitter to them. Tucked behind the ribbon is a clock face that was embossed. Flowers added and some bling here and there.

I had some chipboard that I covered with glitter. The ribbon was coloured with Tim Hotlz distress stain in the colours of the palette. The blue tag was made with cardstock that was dipped into distress stain and dried off. I then stamped script in black ink.

I hope you will try and find time to play along, they are both fun challenges.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look and for taking the time to leave me a message. I really appreciate it.

Till next time - Happy Scrapping!

IT'S MY PARTY

Hello Everyone.

This is going to be my last post as a 58 year old. OMG I love birthdays - I bet you couldn't tell could you. :D

So I was browsing my fave blogs as I do and as I was reading Lizzy Hill's blog and came across this challenge blog called Life Zesters which she had joined which is a Project Life challenge and as I am doing PL I thought I would give it a go too. I have just completed this double layout from my birthday last year. I don't know why I am doing last years when I should be doing this years but there you go. :P

Their first challenge is all about showing your style. I think this layout represents my style pretty well.

As we don't get much in the way of Project Life stuff here I had to make all my own cards and as it was for my birthday it involved a lot of glitter and also some mixed media on the cards. which doesn't show up very well here. I really need to find a way to take pics of project life without the reflections.

Here is the left hand page.

The little card that has week 2 on it has some clear gel paste mixed with clear glitter and put through a honeycomb stencil. It dries clear and leaves a shimmer which I love.

Here is the right hand page.

The bottom right cards have the same stencil on it and also a little chipboard present that has been glittered.

Here is a close up of one of the cards I made using glitter ribbon, chipboard that I covered in glitter and some old stickers.

My journalling on this layout says.

Honey Rock Motel is one of the dodgiest places around - I think you can rent the rooms by the hour - BUT - the food there is so good and if you don't  book on the weekend you won't get in. It is one of my fave places to go for a nice chilled lunch. They make the VERY best Portuguese peri-peri chicken I have ever had. Good Food. Cold Drinks. GREAT company.

AND

We have always made a big deal of birthdays in our family. It is your day. You can do what you want, eat what you want, go where you want with who you want. A real spoiling day. For me it is breakfast in bed and a chilled day spent with those I love - my family! I like to go out to eat, so no-one has to worry and we can all just enjoy ourselves. We always have such a good time together. My best combination.

Happy Birthday!

Thanks for stopping by to take a look and for taking the time to leave me a comment it really means a lot.

Till next time.
Happy Scrapping!

TWO FOR ONE

Hello Everyone.

I am a bit late with this post but better late than never. RIGHT?

This first one is a card for Feeling Sketchy Challenge #112 and here is the sketch

I kind of kept to the sketch and but added my own twist. I made this for Storm for her birthday which was on Saturday.

The quote is a stamp and it is perfect for my daughter.

I hope that you find some time to play along with us... you have until January 14th to get your entry in, so check out the blog and have some fun.

The next one is my layout for Let's Scrap Sketches #12-31-14 which has now closed so you don't have any more time to play along. SORRY!

This was the sketch which I totally took liberties with. I was going for the right hand side and I don't do round photos and it went downhill from there...

I did use some round elements :P

My journalling on the back of the layout says...

These two definitely have a language of their own, one that separates them from everyone else and it is too cute to watch the way they interact with one another. When it is bed time they stand up in their cots and talk and play with one another giggling like two little schoolgirls. They play peek-a-boo and screech-a-lot and have a whale of a time. I was so lucky to capture this shot because I think it looks as if Paige is whispering some secret into his ear and he is listening to every word,  but in reality she was just trying to get his head into her mouth.  Teething is not much fun and anything to chew on is good. I love everything about this photo, the way she is watching me and the camera, the way she is holding his head (so he doesn't get away) and the way he looks like he is listening so intently. A perfect moment captured.

Here are some close-ups.

Love these papers and they are perfect for this photo as the colours and theme were neutral.

I used some flowers and buttons and cutout a few of the stars.

Quick and easy layout. Just like I like it.

Thanks for stopping bye to take a look and for taking the time to leave me a message I really appreciate it.

Till next time.
Happy Scrapping!

DREAM

Hello Everyone!
Happy New Year! I hope that 2015 will be good to all of us :)
I have a new case file for you from CSI - so it is time to pick up your forensic kits and get sleuthing. I hope that you will find some time to play along, the rules are up on the site and there is so much wonderful inspiration to get your creative juices flowing.

It also comes with a very versatile sketch from Em Stafrace over at Page Drafts.

This is how I solved the case.

Scheme - the colours are all there.
Evidence - frame, doodles, sprinkle something (embossing powder), texture paste (chip boards)
Testimony - Hand write your story. (On the back)

The quote on the front of the layout says...
'It's her beauty that captures your attention.
It's her personality that captures your heart.'

My journalling on the back says.
I don't think that I have ever read a quote that is more perfectly suited to anyone than this one is for you. You have such an engaging smile, sparkly, mischievous eyes and a  big personality that you are not afraid to use. You have captured the hearts of everyone that has ever met you. There are no half measures with you, you cry as if your heart was breaking and you laugh as though your sides are splitting. You are able to portray exactly what it is you are wanting and you are not shy to let it be known if you don't get what you want.
I hope that you never lose that. Don't let anyone dull your sparkle you are perfect just as you are. You were not born to blend in but to live out loud, and I would be very sad to see that tamed.
So .... dream big darling girl, and don't let anyone try and tell you that you can't do it... show them you can and just dream bigger. You have the world at your feet and anything is possible, you have the determination to do what you want, I see it in you every day. This has been one of the most amazing years of my life, watching you grow and develop, explore and discover the outside world and yourself and I am more than blessed to have been a part of it. I love you. Grandma <3

Here are some close ups.

I went for a CAS approach again this week. It is definitely what I am most comfortable with. White background and the patterned paper was perfect for this week's palette. The dream is a Heidi Swapp sticker and the flowers were made using my Tim Hotlz die - I really love these flowers.

I covered the chipboards with texture paste and a sponge for roughness then I applied some Distress Stains in green, pink and beige. Once it was dry I applied some clear embossing powder and heat set.

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look and for taking the time to leave a comment. I really appreciate it.

Till next time - Happy Scrapping!
