Hello everyone! What a busy day today, I have been at Storms house all day, wallpapering her room, painting and putting up shelves for her. She has been working hard now that she is on holiday. All I can say is the wallpaper looks fabulous, but it was hard work. She has made her room white and turquoise. I had painted this picture a while ago when I had seen what Donna Downey had done and the colours were perfect for her room. So it is framed now and I thought I would show you what I have been playing with.

Thanks for taking a look.

Most of you know that I am completely technically challenged, in fact it is pretty much a miracle that I have managed this blog, never mind the fact that I have been able to put up photos. I am not very good with the links yet - so it there is a very clever person out there who can talk me through it (HD) I would love to hear from you. I have found another cool thing, I don't know what you call it but it is called StumbleUpon and if you google it you will find it. My son showed it to me and he installed it on my computer and it asks you to check the boxes of all the topics that interest you. The more you check the better and then you can go into, for example, scrapbooking and it will give you either fonts, pages, techniques and I was blown away by it. So if you like that kind of stuff go check it out.

I promise to try and put something nice up for you tomorrow.

I am having a very lazy day today so I have nothing to show you but I do have something to tell you... This morning, on some channel that was on TV, I saw that Microsoft has an application called Microsoft Ice. It is a package that allows you to drag and drop a series of photos that it will align and stitch together to form a panoramic photo. I know that some cameras have this facility but not all of them. So I think that this is pretty neat for scrapbookers.

So I have downloaded it and when I have time to play I am going to print and use a picture on a page. Will let you know how I get on. Check it out in the meantime.

A couple of weeks ago a very good friend of mine posted this on her facebook page. Cher saw it and thought it would make a very cool theme for a page, and so the challenge was on - the TT girls' next project with a page using this as the title. Other than that no rules.

Here is my page, and I will load the rest of the TT girls once I have all their pages in.  I only realised once I have finished the page that I had used red and purple.:D it wasn't and intentional thing but given that I am the oldest of the TT girls I guess it was appropriate.

These are some 'off the page' scrapped things I have made. The first one is a 12 x 12 canvas that us girls made on one of our weekly trips away. We got the idea from Tim Holtz after his last visit here and thought it would be a cool project for us all to do together. So we covered the canvas with paper of our choice and then covered it with words. All the words are different fonts and sizes and even colours. It now hangs on the wall in my studio as a constant reminder to just have fun with my hobby.

I made this calendar in 2009 and I am ashamed to say that I have not made another one since. I thought it would help to co-ordinate our lives :-) I printed a 12 x 12 page for each month and it was blocked off for 31 days. All the pages were the same. All I had to do then was to put the month at the top and then the days of the week and add in the dates for the correct days. This was then hung next to the telephone so that if we needed to check dates the calendar would be right there.

And this last one hangs in my kitchen. It is a perspex 12 x 12 sheet that I scrapped from behind and I have added a whiteboard pen so that as we run out of stuff it gets written on the shopping list for the next time I shop. It then gets wiped off and we start again. This has been invaluable.

Have a wonderful weekend whatever you will be doing.

I don't know where this week has gone. It's Thursday again and we are settling into our new scrapping place very nicely. In fact someone commented today that we are getting more scrapping done in the new shop which is a good sign.

Today I am featuring a page done by Shannon . Shan  loves bright colours and lots of bling and her pages are very happy looking, she has used some lovely chipboard accents on this page and I love it. Thank you Shan x.

I know I haven't posted in a couple of days, but sometimes life just gets in the way. This is not to say that I haven't been busy. I have... I am learning to crochet and knit. I just love how easy it is to access anything you want on the internet, youtube makes it so easy to learn - you just watch and copy. I have already posted some picture of the little flowers that I made and I am busy with a granny blanket for a friend. I love how it is turning out and I will put up pics when it is finished.

When we went away to Mabula with the girls Susan showed us how to knit these cool fingerless gloves for winter and so now I am making those too, I have already been onto the internet to find a little beanie that I can knit to match the gloves, will put up pics once they are finished.

In the meantime I would like to share another project that I worked on and that is mixed media canvasses. Take a look at these.  I painted the canvasses with acrylic paint. then spattered dark brown paint on with a toothbrush. I then stamped a script image over portion of the canvas using Tim Holtz' distressed inks. I then painted a rectangle of olive green paint at the bottom of the canvas.  I used a cup dipped in brown acrylic stamped on to look like a coffee ring.   I used an image from a calendar because I liked them and they fit the colours in my kitchen. I tied ribbon around the bottom of the canvas and added some flowers and some pearls and I was done. This one hangs in my kitchen and everyone that has seen it loves it. I am very happy with the way it turned out. It is one of the things that I love about mixed media art.... NO RULES!

I made this one for a very special friend...and used the colours of her bedroom.

Enjoy the rest of the week. A short week too which is nice for those that work. :-)

We have a long weekend this weekend - whoop whoop, it's Human Rights Day on Monday, and I know a lot of people of are very glad that they have a long weekend.

So what am I .....

doing:         making a card for a birthday on Monday
seeing:        lots of birds at the bird feeder
listening to: 5 FM
smelling:     the damp earth after the rain
wearing:     sweats
eating:        nuts
drinking:     coke light
feeling:        blue today - which is unusual for me
thinking:      I wish that some lessons were not so hard to learn

I think this will be a great weekend for a clear out and tidy up :-)

A couple of years ago we decided to have a recipe swap amongst the TT girls, we all got the same tins to keep the recipes in and scrapped them at our Thursday crops. The rules were simple. It had to be a quick and/or easy weekday dish, we decided on the categories we wanted and each week you had to produce a recipe that was typed up - on the right sized cardstock - for each of the participants. At the end of it we all had a tin and all had the same recipes. This was my tin - it stays in my kitchen and the recipes have been used over and over again.

and this was how I organised the inside.

It's the weekend again. I can't believe how fast time is going by. It's a three day weekend too which is nice for the people who work. I hope that you all have some great things planned for the weekend. I am hoping for a quiet weekend (I have some DIY projects lined up for my hubby) :-)  Whatever you are going to be doing I hope that you have an awesome weekend.

I have some more of my arty endeavours for you to look at: What do you know? More birdhouses... I told you I was obsessed. This one was a chipboard one that I got from Claudene Pienaar. I loved making this one, and it sits on one of my bookcases.

This is one that I did in a class with Bernice Basson, and it hangs on the wall in my studio.

And this one we bought somewhere on one of our many girls weeks away, and we made them all together. I love this one too.

I promise no more birdie things this week :-)

Here is my take on the last challenge that I posted. I tried this time to keep to the layout, which is very hard for me. I did stray a bit but the main layout is the same.

Is is the challenge layout again, so you don't have to find it again. I did try and do it as is.... almost impossible for me but I had fun anyway.

Whoop whoop... we are back in business. Here is Cher's page. The thing I love most about Cher's pages is that she uses loads of photos. This is a page she did for the 94.7 cycle race. She as also used chipboard bicycles that she painted black and she used Tim Holtz' sprockets for the wheels, such a clever idea. I love Cher's style and that she knows exactly what she wants to do and she goes for it. She comes on a Thursday and very seldom does she not get to finish.

Thank you Cher. I hope that we get to share lots more of your pages.

I have a confession to make. I have lost the picture of the page done by Cheryl Eltringham that I was going to showcase today. I have had to ask her, with my tail between my legs, to send the picture again. So I will post it as soon as I get it from her.

Happy St Patrick's Day. If you are celebrating it I hope that you have a wonderful time. We are going to a function at Fourways High, an Irish pub quiz evening, to raise funds for their cheerleaders. Should be fun :-)

My brother and his family live in Killkenney in Ireland and I am pretty sure that they will be celebrating today.

Today I thought I would show you some more of my creative endeavours... jewelery. I don't know if you are like me but I love bling, but I am particularly partial to silver and also to pearls. I have made loads of pieces and here is just a couple of them.

I love this old gold colour piece and it looks so nice on.

I am mad about pearls and now have 38 strings of different colours. This is one I made with all the odd pearls left from all the strings and it is one of my favourites because it goes with anything.

I love that I can make whatever I like to match an outfit or my mood or just because.

I have also tried my hand at mosaic. The first one I tried was the Elephant - ambitious for a first attempt I know but hell my motto is "go big or go home". Anyway, I am rather pleased with the result.

Then I decided to go for an abstract design. I am happy with the result.

Now I am busy with a towel holder for the beach. Will post photos when I am done.

I think it is time for a challenge again, so here is the layout that I have chosen. I will post my page once it is done.  Hope you will join in.

Oh how I love the rain. We had such a lovely storm last night. Clearly my new rain dance did the trick. It has been so hot here over the last few months so it is so nice that it has cooled down a bit.
I haven't done any scrapping since we got back from the coast... I have been learning to crochet and am making a granny blanket for a friend. I found how too's on youtube and now I am hooked, much to my husbands horror. He thinks I look like a granny :-) Will put up a sneak peak when I have really started to assemble it.

I thought I would put up some pictures of some of my other crafty endeavours.... I did ceramics for years and even had my own kiln but I had to sell it when we moved into this house. Here are a sample of some of the things that I made.

I made a set of fat lady plates which hang on the walls in my kitchen. I thought I would act as a deterrent when I went to raid the fridge, but I was wrong, I do love them though.

I made a set of two big vases that are different styles but painted the same way. I do love the water colour look of them.

I made myself a pasta set  consisting of eight pasta bowls, a garlic bread plate, pizza plate and salad bowl which is one of my favourite sets.

My very first foray in to the world of crafts was pottery lessons. I soon learned that I was useless on the wheel and my first two attempts at bowls ended up as pigs which I love. But I did like slab work and hand work. I made this square vase and it is still one of my favourite things. Unfortunately this is all I have left to show for my time as a potter. I gave the rest away as gifts to friends and family. I do wish that I had had a digital camera back then so I could have taken photos of all the things I made.

I was forever hooked on crafts. I will post some of my creations each day. :D

I love birds, and anything bird related, like bird cages and bird houses and feeders. I collect bird houses and some lovely ones in my garden. I also have three bird feeders - one right outside my studio so that there are always birds there.I love to take pictures of them, I love to watch them and most of all I love to listen to them.

Outside our house we have an enormous fever tree and the birds build their nests in there and they start with their chirping as soon as it starts to get light in the mornings. It used to drive my daughter nuts because it was right outside her bedroom.

This morning as I was walking through the house to my studio I spotted three dogs and a cat sitting at the double doors that lead off from my dining room into a tiny courtyard. They weren't moving and were just staring out the window, curious as to what was going on I walked over to see what had them so fixated, and spotted this tiny little bird sitting on the paving stones outside - clearly it is a baby and I think that maybe it got tired flying and just stopped to rest. Lucky for the bird the doors and the windows were closed and the other side of the enclosure is a ten foot wall so it is totally protected, no ways that any of them could get to it. Hansa, my beautiful boy was positively salivating at the possibility of a snack.

Being a scrapper and an obsessive picture taker I ran for my camera and took this through the glass.

He is really cute. I thought I would try and get some more pictures of him and so I put the dogs and the cat into my studio and shut the windows and doors ;-)  I think I gave him a fright when I opened the window to get clearer shots of him and he hopped behind one of the flower pots and that put an end to that.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday whatever you are up to. It will be sport just for a change in our house.

It a glorious morning here on the Reef. The sky is blue, the sun is out and there is a hint of autumn in the air. The birds are all at the feeder that hangs in the fever tree just outside of my studio. It is indeed a great day to be alive.  It is moments like this that I am so very grateful for all that I have. I can here all the neighbours taking their kids to school or going to work and the house is quiet. I have a hot cup of tea next to me and the dogs are all lying at my feet.

I have missed my studio while I have been away, and so I stayed up late and played and this is the result. I hope you like it.

These are some of the photos that I took of the Tiger cubs at Zebula. I just love these Tiger cubs :-) I kept it simple because I really wanted the photos to be the center of attention. The paper I used has a very simple pattern in black and white and I turned it to the side. I matted the photos onto black cardstock. I used chipboard letters and rub-ons for the title. Did some sewing up either side of the pages and finished it off with some black and green flowers.
