Hello everyone

I have finally got back all of my photo's, page maps, books and music - all 85 000 of them and they are busy copying across to my new external hard drive, the one that will be the back-up, Simon bought me a sexy new verbatim hard drive to use every day... its a store and go and it is about half the size of the power hard drives and very slim. I have taken a photo of it but I can'g get to my photos yet. I am hoping that by tomorrow it will have finished copying. Then comes the hard work of sorting it all out into the right order again. I love organising. It's what I do best. So I am posting the new months photo a day challenge. I wasn't very good last month about posting photos I was a bit better at taking them. My brother and son have challenged me to this months and I am taking them on. I will post some of their pics too. Feel free to join in.

I am definitely hoping that by the end of the weekend I will be back up and running on the computer front. I have finished some pages and photographed them as well. I just need to load them.

Whatever you are doing - have fun!

Hello everyone,

Well my weekend alone is over and I had such a wonderful time. I love chill time at home alone. No meals to cook no set times for bed or waking and I don't know why but I am most creative late at night when the house is dark and quiet :D Weird I know, but there you go.

Amongst other things I did this single page... yes another one and I love it. I used scraps from my box for the strips behind the pics and did some sewing. Something that I hardly ever do but something I really like on pages.

Nice simple quick page :D

Hello everyone... no I haven't disappeared again but it's been a hectic week, and now I have the whole weekend to myself, Simon has gone away on business and I love being home alone. No meals to cook, no routine to stick to and I can scrap at night when the house is sooo quiet.

I have still not got my external hard drive back but I am assured that they will recover everything on it which is a huge relief. This week I have spent most of the time trying to recover as much as I can from CD's, Storm and Simon's stash of photo copies. Thank goodness we all share our photos. Anyway I got some photos from Storm of when Bill, her and myself went to Michael Mount Waldorf Organic Market last month. I love this market and could spend hours just wandering around. I am still not buying any scrapping stuff I am using what I have in my stash. Go me!

For this one I used a gorgeous taupe a brown striped bracket page which I cut in half and used on the outside. I used a taupe spot bazzil to matt the photos on and for the lacy border at the bottom. I love the Martha Stewart border punches.

I have almost finished a single page that I was working on. Yes the dreaded single page. I am going to get into them really I am.

Day 14 - HEART

I have these double doors that lead into my studio from the house. I have decorated the doors (yes, both of them) with hearts... different sizes, textures and colours and it makes me very happy :D

Day 15 - PHONE

It always amazes me that every where you go everyone is busy on their phones. How did we ever manage without them. I am so bad with my phone. I never have it on me and if I do it is invariably on silent so I don't hear it. Drives my husband mad... but I have a phone so that I can contact someone if I need help. It is not a lifeline for me :D

Day 17 - TIME

This is a plain clock that I bought for my studio and I scrapped it. It has wooden letters at 12, 3, 6 and 9 that says TIME. I covered the outside of it with paper and  I tied little ribbon bows all the way around it in all the colours that were in the paper. Paper which I have used on other things in my studio. You know how I love the whole matchy matchy thing :D

AND no I didn't forget to include the photo for DAY 16 - SOMETHING NEW. I forgot to take a  photo. The day just got away with me.

You can take a look at Chantelle's blog Fatmumslim and see what others have done with the photo challenge. I love doing these challenges because it makes you look at things a little differently.

Have a wonderful weekend. I am hoping to get my external hard drive back today with my photos restored. Please hold thumbs for me.

Happy Valentines's Day. I couldn't resist this gorgeous heart I found on Pinterest, and in the absence of anything else to post I thought this was lovely and different.

I actually have a few things to post but my external hard drive gave in on me and is now at the computer shop getting fixed. I have been stressed all day wondering if I have lost all my photo's. I know I should have a back up but the hard drive was my back up. So I am hoping that I can get the stuff back. If not I am so screwed. Everything thing is on that hard drive, all my music 5000 odd songs, all my books, about 1000 and I have no idea how many thousands of photos. AND, to top it all Willy is going home today after three months, and I am going to miss him.

So I am going to take a deep breath and hope that tomorrow it will all be ok.

I said I was going to push myself to do some single pages. I hardly ever do them (well I do for the front and back page of an album, but that is it) I don't like the idea of opening an album and having mis-matched pages next to one another. Strange I know but heck that's the way I roll. So this year I am going to make an album of single pages. Yes I am :D

This page was a layout sketch from lets scrap and just a couple of days before while I was working at my computer and drinking my morning tea, Karma hopped up onto my lap and then up on the desk. I knew what she was up to and luckily my camera was close at hand. The little madam helped herself to my tea... and it was hot! When she turned to look at me as if to say what's all the fuss about and I saw all the tea around her mouth I knew I had to create a page for her. I just love this little dog and I don't mind sharing my tea with her but she has to wait until I am done :D

Have a wonderful weekend where ever you are and what ever you are up to.

OMG it's Friday again and nearly half-way through February. On the bright side, it is a grey day today, the clouds are heavy and dark and I am hoping for some lovely rain. It has been oppressively hot here for the last couple of days so some rain would be wonderful. I would love a thunder storm but wont push my luck. After my studio clear out (partial clear-out) I thought I better get a Valentine card made for my DH. (I really think he deserves it :) )

I didn't want it to be too girly and so I went with grey, black white and red. I actually found the sketch for this on one of the blog hops over at  Lets Scrap. Although I didn't take part in the blog hop I did like the look of the card so I copied it. I used various hearts, cut using my nestabilities and then embossed using my cuttlebug. I also cut a grey felt heart out and used that too, added a couple of rub-ons and a border cut using my Martha Stewart punches and I like how it turned out.

Ah - here comes the rain. Soft gentle rain :)

I used a rub-on for the inside of the card and then stuck a ticket in the bottom right hand corner.

Now all I have to do is find a gift to accompany it :D

Wednesday, 8 February 2012

Oh boy I am behind on my photograph a day already, but sometimes life just gets in the way. Today the subject was SUN... and it was so hot here today I thought I was going to melt... I was tempted to phone DH and beg him to install an aircon for me :D As I was playing outside with the dogs my geraniums caught my eye. They are looking stunning at the moment. I have four pots, two red and two white. and I loved the colours and the shadows and so I chose this pic to take to represent the sun.

Till tomorrow. Bye :D

Hello Everyone... It's Wednesday again and NO I haven't gone AWOL... I have been busy sorting out my studio. I didn't intend to do this but once I started I couldn't stop until it was all done. Now I can get back to creating.

My working desk sits between two windows which is nice for light. This is the desk that has my computer, my photo printer, my 12 x 12 photo printer and my everyday HP printer. I also keep my phone, my sewing machine and my slice on my desk here because they are close to the plugs. To the right of my desk underneath the one window I have a small set of four drawers and on top of that sits my light box and my silhouette. On the right of my desk under the other window is a two door cupboard which holds my really old photos which have been sorted by event by year and books and other things that are not pretty and that I want hidden. On top of the cupboard I have baskets which hold alphabets, bling, rub-ons and so on

Oh and also my phone charger and Ipad/Ipod docking station/clock/radio. I have to have music all the time.

Directly behind my working desk is my crafting desk and it is crammed with all the stuff I use on nearly all my pages, tools, pens, paints, glues, tapes and all that kid of stuff. Under the desk I have two sets of drawers that hold all of my stamping stuff, ink pads, acrylic blocks, cleaners, and so on.

As you can see all of my tools are kept in cream tins so that I can see at a glance what is inside. I also have a 12.x.12 cutter, although most of the time I just use a ruler and a scalpel.

I took all of the stuff off the walls. I think it is time for a change and time for some new stuff to go up. Will be working on that soon. I haven't yet gone through all my magazines which go back a number of years. My next job.

These cupboards here hold all of my cardstock in the closed cupboards underneath. Patterned paper on the lower shelves... yes all of it :D Above that is all my embellishments sorted by colour in Big Jim boxes. In front of them are small see through boxes that hold all of my small bits of ribbon. Also colour co-ordinated. Above that (which is what set me on this crusade) are all my flowers in see through paint pails. and on the left in plastic boxes are all my stickers, rub-ons and alphabets, sayings etc. On the top shelf are all my albums. and they are all full or nearly full. On top of the bottom cupboards in the blue trays are all my chipboard embellishments, alphabets, shapes, words, tags etc. On top of those on the left are baskets of flowers and on the right are plastic boxes with all my buttons. In-between is where my stereo used to be - but now that it is gone I have used the space to store all my alphabets is see through boxes from A - Z, plus two small baskets one which has all my flower soft the other has twine :D

This station on this side holds all my stamps, cuttlebug and nestabilities and also all my acrylic paints and in the basket drawers underneath all my punches. It feels really good to have a place for everything and everything in its place.

Good night all!

Sunday, 5 February 2012

It's 10:00 am on on Sunday morning and the house is sooooo quiet. Simon is working all weekend to get the machines ready to be transported to Cape Town tomorrow so it is just me and the dogs and they are all asleep under my desk. I am listening to 5FM while I finish another layout and make a start on some cards.

What are you doing today?

Today the photo challenge is 10:00 am and here is my photo to prove it. :D

Enjoy the rest of your day whatever you are doing.

Saturday, 4 February 2012

It's Saturday and I have finished another double layout which will go onto the Let's Scrap Gallery. This is also a challenge and this is the sketch we had to work from...

This is what I did with it. I wanted to use these photos from our trip to Scotland in 2010 for New Year. It was the first time that we had all seen real snow and it was wonderful. When we arrived at Edradour which is the smallest whiskey distillery there was a foot or so of snow everywhere. Clean, white untouched snow. OMG it was fantastic. The buildings were white edged with red so the papers worked perfectly.

Yesterdays photo was 'hands' but I found it really difficult to do my hands so I did feet instead. I don't know why but probably one of the few things that I wouldn't change about myself. :D

Today's photo is a stranger and as I have been home all day, and no plans to go out that is going to be difficult so it's back to the drawing board for me ... see you all again next week.

Have a wonderful weekend.

This morning I received the Liebster Blog Award from Canica van Loggerenberg at Shoestring Scrapbooking

I am so excited. I have had my blog for a little over a year now and I have learned so much along the way. It is so nice to get recognition for it. Thanks so much Canica, you can visit her blog to see who else she nominated for this award.
This is what the Liebster Award represents:

"Liebster" is a German word meaning dearest, beloved or favourite, and the Liebster Award is sort of a chain letter among bloggers that is intended to showcase exceptional up-and-coming blogs (typically, those with 200 or fewer followers).  There is no evaluation committee or formal award process for the Liebster Award, but in a way it is even nicer.  It is recognition that a peer has noticed and appreciated your work.

Here are the rules:

Choose 5 up-and-coming blogs of fewer than 200 followers to award the Liebster Award to.  Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.  Post the award on your blog.  Link it back to the blogs you have given the Liebster Award to, so everyone else can pay them a visit.

Ok so now I have to pass this on to 5 people who I think deserve it.

Elna and Benice at Between Tea and Cupcakes
Helen Duffet at Firenze Cards
Bella at Bella's Scrappin Space
Jo Brown at Jo So Crafty
Susan at Scrappy Susan Dupre

Thank you for inspiring me :D

By now you all know that Thursdays is my favourite day of the week. It's the day the TT girls meet for breakfast and then go to Scrap Therapy to scrap for the morning. This is a very special bunch of girls, who you know will always have your back, who will listen to you rant and rave about anything and everything, who will tell it to you like it is, and I really really love these girls and nothing comes between me and my TT. I am not sure that it is cheaper than psycho-therapy but I do know it is a hell of a lot more fun.

Anyway, I did another challenge from Let's Scrap - The food challenge... criteria was it had to be to do with food, it had to have a hand made tag on it and it had to have stitching and journalling and you had to use one of their sketches.

This was my inspiration for my layout...

and this is what I came up with...

I used the photos I took at Cher' birthday last year. The best part of all for me was that she liked the page so much she kept it. No higher praise for me than that.

I am loving this site. I don't think I have done so much scrapping in a long time. Long may it last, maybe this way I can get caught up with all the photos I have.

Today's photo challenge was words and I chose to take a picture of a piece of wall art I made last year - It sits right in front of me when I am at my computer and all the words on it apply to me every day that I work in my studio :D

Whoop whoop! I have completed another double layout. I also entered this one into the bi-weekly challenge so we will wait and see what happens now. So nice to get such positive feedback on your layouts.

I also said that I was going to go along with the Project Life challenge which is to take photos every day for a year. With my kids grown up and out of the house, I don't get all of those kids activities to capture and so you have to start looking at things through a different lens. Quite a challenge I have to say but here goes nothing.

I found this which I thought would give me some ideas...

This is what I look at when I am working in my studio. That gorgeous tree growing there is a fever tree (I don't know what its proper name is) and it is growing so fast. When we moved in six years ago it was so small and now it is gorgeous and I have a feeder on one of the branches and the tree is always full of birds. For the first time this year we have had weavers building nests in it. Super excited about that.

What is your view today?
