Hi Everyone,

Hope you are having a good Saturday today. I know I am. It is my mother's birthday today. She would have been 77 and she was taken from us way to young and I still miss her every single day. So happy birthday Mom :D

Day 31 - A place I relax

Most of you know that this is where I am most relaxed. Here in my studio. I spend as much time as I can in here and if I am ever stressed, angry or up tight I can come in here to play and I soon calm down. My hubby doesn't understand my obsession with this room. :P How could he, he doesn't have a hobby. I read a quote recently that went something along the lines of  - creativity isn't a hobby it's a way of life - and I thought yes that is so true, well for me it is anyway. I have to create everyday, whether it is crochet, making cards, scrapping, painting, or just making pretty things I have to do it.

I have been making loads of pages but I cant post them yet. I can post one of them tomorrow when we take over as the new Design Team over at Let's Scrap, and I have a couple of other projects in the pipeline to so hopefully I will get those pics up too.

Here are a couple of quick cards I made. I keep them in a box so that when I need a card and I don't have time to make one I have some at hand.

I will try and post something tomorrow but I have to try and get my tutorial finished before I go away next week.

Thanks for stopping by.

This week has been so hectic, there has been so much to do and get my head around for the Design Team but I think I have figured it all out now so I can just breathe...

I have also found time to do a challenge for the Crafting Ireland Magazine. I really love this magazine and if you haven't taken a look yet you really should. Their latest magazine is out and I decided I would do the challenge.

Here is the sketch that they gave us.....

And, this is what I did with it...

I haven't done my photo of the day yet.... today's topic is 'TRASH' which really offends my sensibilities. I can't do messes so how am I supposed to do trash. I have to tidy before I take any pictures :9  I am going to have to find a way to get over this... so I will post later. Thank goodness it's TT tomorrow I am sure the girls will help me get over this.

Happy Scrapping!

Good morning everyone,

Today is just a fabulous day all round. We have the most amazing weather in the world here in Johannesburg...

The sky is blue and the sun is out and there is just a slight nip in the air as we head towards autumn... this and spring are absolutely my favourite times of the year. I don't know about you but typically Sundays are lazy days in our house. Breakfast in bed, reading the paper (me playing on my ipad) and today was no exception, though today was just a little different.

I don't know how I found it but I did Crafting Ireland Magazine and I was so excited. I have a huge love affair with Ireland because my brother and his family and my late aunt (who was just like a mother to me) and her husband Willy all live in Ireland... My Brother in Kilkenny and Willy in Mitchellstown. Anyway, I try and go and visit them every year. On one of my visits my SIL Ali, who is an artist, organised a group of ladies for me to do a scrapbooking class with. Well none of them even knew what scrapbooking was much less if and where you could buy supplies in Ireland, but they loved the class. So imagine my surprise and absolute delight to see that now they have a magazine, and in that magazine I have found loads of places to go shopping on my next visit. I am even thinking that perhaps I should try and schedule in a class or too.

Take a look at this magazine, they have just released number eight and I love it. Definitely one of my favourites.

But that was not the only thing different today. I got an email from Betty Orr at  Let's Scrap to tell me that I have been chosen as a Design Team member. I am super excited, this is a wonderful website with warm, passionate members and I am really looking forward to this challenge. :D

Day 34 - Animal

I wouldn't call him an animal :D he is my beautiful Hansa.

Have a wonderful Sunday wherever you are and whatever you are doing.

Hello Everyone,

It's Puza Thursday here in Sunny South Africa.... hope it's a lovely Thursday wherever you are. I have two cards for you today from the new challenge over at Let's Scrap... I decided to make two cards, using all my scraps.

The first one I did in pinks for a girl and just put a chipboard Friends on it, so you could use it for just about anything (I also scrap the insides of my cards - just so you know).

For the other one I had all this monster paper left from one of the conventions and I thought I would use it for a boys card. Also scrapped on the inside. I will have to remember to take pics of the insides next time.

I have been spending way to much time on my computer surfing for sites... There is such cool stuff out there. One of my favourite sites is Pagemaps run by Becky Fleck. She is so talented and you can sign up and each month they send you a whole new set of pagemaps  to get your creative juices flowing. While I was roaming around I also found this Scrapbook and Cards Today and I you browse around their site you can download their magazine which comes out four times a year and it's free. I love their mags and I download them to my Ipad and they can go with me wherever I am. So cool.

See you soon :)

Hats Off

Hello everyone

I have finished another double page,  for a challenge on Let's Scrap, have I told you how much fun I am having with these challenges. I picked up this paper at our local scrapbook store a few weeks ago because I just loved it. It is Bo-Bunny's "Ambrosia" range... and I knew just which photos I wanted to use with this paper too. My daughter Storm loves hats and where ever we go and there are hats she has to try them on. She looks so cute in hats too. I had another paper in mind to begin with but when I saw the photos on this paper I changed my mind.

Because the photo's were bright and fun I decided to use bright Bazzill card stock to make it all pop and I am very happy with how it turned out. (Another page I think she is going to take :))  I love that she is my biggest fan...

Day 20 - Before/After

I chose after because I love how busy the tree outside my studio is when there is lots of food. It gets filled every day and as I look at it now from my desk it is empty (3:34pm) and there is not a bird in site... they really are so fickle.

Tomorrow is a holiday for us here in South Africa - Human Rights Day so I probably won't have a post for you but I have a couple of cards I want to make and hopefully this time I will remember to take photos of them.

Bye for now.

Hello Everyone,

It's Friday, and here it has been a very wet Friday, and I love the rain. Tomorrow is St Patrick's Day and I miss my family in Ireland lots and I can't wait till I see them again... So Happy St Paddy's Day to you all.

As promised here is the single page I started yesterday. I found these two photos when I was sorting out all my photos and storing them for use. These were just two on their own and I wanted to use them. I haven't done many of us together because generally I am the one taking the photos so it is a bit difficult.

This was a lonely sheet of paper that I found at our local scrapbook store and I really liked it... Kind of doodled in black, blue and red. This was a really quick page, and I have to say that I am loving doing single pages... I am still not convinced that I like them in an album :) It does bother me when I open the page and each side is different but I am sucking it up.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone. TTFN

Hello Everyone,

Well it's Thursday, my favourite day of the week :D and for the last couple of weeks it has just been three of us - the die hards - scrapping. I have a page that Desi did this morning to show you - she is so fast it is scary. We had these photos done at the Scrapbook Convention last year, they had a professional photographer there. You got the photos printed out as 4 x 6 so that is what she had to work with.

Day 15 - My Car

Here she is... she is such a beauty and I love driving her.

I am busy with another layout which I will put up tomorrow. I also made two cards for birthdays this last week and I forgot to take photos. :( I can't believe I did that anyway I have a few more to do for this month so I will try to remember to take the photos this time.

Hello Everyone

They had another challenge over at Let's Scrap... scrap a page with only monochromatic colours. I have to say I didn't find it that easy... I don't know why either. I think the hardest thing for me about this challenge was to find photos that would fit the layout - that is what held me back. I just could not find the right photos. Then I decided why not just cut a photo into four pieces. Then I had to find a picture that would work. Anyway to cut a long story short I decided to use these two photos from Glastonbury Abbey. We got their quite late and the sun was just going down....yes at 5.00pm :D

I went with grey because of the church walls and this is what I came up with. I kind of like the end result. I stamped on one of the grey blocks because I couldn't find the right grey/black patterned paper and I like it. I think I may try this again. It also made me realise I need to think more as I am taking photos.

Day 12 - Fork

I really love this photo. I love the peeling fork, the colours, the light - everything. I love how sometimes I get a really nice photo. I really need to work more on my photography skills. I am absolutely clueless when it comes to taking photos and when I get a good one it is more good luck than good judgement. I have really enjoyed this photo a day challenge. I think I need to make notes when I get a good one like this so I can see where I am going wrong with other pictures.

Happy Tuesday - I hope it is a good one for you :D TTFN

Saturday, 10 March 2012

My boy has moved to Cape Town to start up the business there, and this week he had to come home to sort out some problems that they were having - mission accomplished - which means he is leaving tonight :( I really miss him when he is not around. I can't believe how much he has changed since he has been away. He has grown up again in a different way.

Anyway as I was organising my albums and putting away the new pages I came across this page that I did at one of the convention and it got me thinking! When my kids were small, and even more so for when I was young, we didn't have digital cameras and film was so expensive so you didn't take hundreds of un-necessary photos. These five little photos were all I had from Clint's second birthday. He had just broken his arm riding one of those little plastic motorbikes that ALL kids love. In a passage that was no more than the length of two rooms, no-one else in site. We think he must have fallen off with his arm underneath. Anyway I was so paranoid about this arm and how sore it was and would it get hurt more and so on that we decided not to have a party for him. We just had his cousins and his best friend come over for cake and stuff. I always find it hard to know what to do with the small square photos and this page reminded me how easy it is if you just think out the box.

I actually love this page and there is no reason why it cant be adapted over and over again. :D

My photo of the day for yesterday, which also happened to be my father-in-laws 86th birthday. Way to go Dad, hope that there are many more.

Day 8 -Red

I love these little birds that come to my feeder every day.

TTFN and have a wonderful weekend.

Hello Everyone

I am so excited today. I joined a couple of online sites to get me scrapping more, one of these sites is Creations Etc and today I saw that one of the pages I uploaded was chosen as the CETC Gallery Pick of the Week. Go me! Here is the page I posted. Although it is not a new page it is one that I love. Ground Zero - is a page I made with pictures I took when we visited Ground Zero when we were in the States, and we ended up spending hours there. Anyway I am very pleased to have been chosen.

I joined two sites Creations Etc and Let's Scrap and I am so happy that I did because I am scrapping more and procrastinating less and I am using the stuff that I already have in my stash. The last two weeks without photos have knocked me badly, but I am back on track I have all my pictures back, they are all sorted into their correct folders and they are all backed up and I am ready to scrap away again. I have my eye on a couple of challenges, so watch this space. I also got some nice goodies to play with so I am going to be showing them off too.

Day Six - 5 pm

My photo of the day :D

Monday, 5 March 2012

Hello everyone... well Monday Madness doesn't even begin to tell you how I am feeling at the moment. First of all we have had no water since Friday and I have a visitor from Nelspruit and tonight is family dinner.  Anyway after many phone calls and lots of ranting I am told the water will be back on by 9.00 tonight.

So I needed some happy stuff to cheer me up and crapping always makes me happy. I finished another single page, and this page just makes me feel good when I look at it. I found this photo of Simon and I on the boat while I was trying to recover all my lost photos, and I thought I just had to scrap it and because there was only two pictures it was perfect for a single page.

If anyone had asked me I would have said this was just a couple of years ago... It was, in actual fact, fourteen years ago:( Where did the time go and how can it be passing by so fast. Makes you realise that we really should live in the moment and savour it. I am also happy to say that I used my stash for this page too. I am so proud of this. :D These pictures were taken by a friend who was on the boat with us. It was Simon's 45th birthday and we were at the dam. I had organised a hot air balloon ride for his birthday and then we went out for a booze cruise in the evening and had a braai. It was a nice day.

I have been keeping up with my photo a day challenge to and here they are for the last couple of days.

Day Two - Fruit

This is what I had for breakfast - a great big fat juicy minneola.

Day Three - My Neighbourhood

I love the estate where we live. It always makes me think of Wisteria Lane. There are only 40 something houses in the estate and this is our part of the estate taken from my upstairs balcony over towards Broadacres which is our local shopping centre. I love that it is so quiet and pretty.

Day Four - Bedside

Yes this really is my bedside table and yes it is always this neat and un-cluttered, unlike Simon's. I am a neat freak and I like a place for everything and everything in its place.

Day Five - Smile

This is Stephen my housekeeper. He is so happy and so helpful all the time. Not only does he take care of the house, he cooks, he takes care of the garden and when he needs to get out he takes my four yorkies for a walk and they love him. How can you not be happy when you see a smile like that.

You see I already feel better.

Thursday, 1 March 2012

The photo challenge for day one was UP... and so up I went. I actually had two photos to choose from, the first one is the street lamp outside my house that I can just see over the top of the wall and I got down on my side of the wall and took the picture up. The other was my Karma up on my desk, and she is just so cute I was very tempted to use that one of her :D

I have also finished another double page... this was also done using a sketch from Let's Scrap. I have decided that using sketches are a great way to get your mojo back. I loved the fact that there was a flap on the right hand page - which allowed me to use more of the photos that I had taken.

The page is on Wells Cathedral. We drove through Wells by chance looking for the air force museum and decided to stop and have a wander round. I had seen the Cathedral before but Simon hadn't so we went to got and have a look. The sky was so dark and the sun shone through a gap in the clouds casting an unreal light on the walls of the Cathedral. When we went inside the church the choir was practising for the evening service and it was magical. I took a video while we were in there so we could hear the singing.

The flap holds the photos of the cemetery inside the square of the Cathedral and also the little details like the windows and doors and statues.

I used a Basic grey pattern for the background that had these flowers in lilac, yellow and leaves of green which just seemed to pick up the colours in the photos perfectly. The yellow distressed paper was also basic grey and the lilac is Bazzil and the green is fabric book tape.

I am still busy trying to re-load all my photos and hope to be done by the end of the weekend.
