Oh wow I can't believe that I have been gone for two weeks and that I am already home again. Where does the time go?

I had the most amazing time in Cape Town. My hubby is opening up his business there and my son has moved down there for six months to get it off the ground, so we went down to see how things were going.

Clint has rented a furnished flat that is right in the middle of Cape Town - Greenpoint and he has this amazing view of the V & A Waterfront and the boats and the sea. It really is lovely. I am nearly finished editing the photos and I will post some here along with some of the things we did and saw while we were there.

Before I left I had a couple of pages that I had done for challenges that I can now show you. This first one was for Michelle van Wyk's QOTW (question of the week) - which was "What is the weirdest/funniest thing you have ever scrapped?"

Mine has to be these crabs that found their way to my house - in the middle of a hugely built up area with high walls. We had two of them on two separate days about a month apart and they were so big and so angry looking.

I used some old Basic Grey papers that I just love and kept it fairly simple as always.

This next page was one of the weekly challenges from before we went away. This was the sketch and for me this is one of the hardest pages I have worked on and I put it off and put it off until I couldn't put it off any more :D

Once I decided just to do it it came together really easily and I loved doing the challenge. I had these photos from a friends birthday breakfast and she had said half jokingly when I started to crochet "You can make me a granny blanket for me for my birthday in red, white and aqua", and so I did. For me there is nothing in the world like seeing the look of joy on someone's face when you have done something really special for them.

I used the My Minds Eye - BeLoved range which was perfect because I am going to frame this page for her for her next birthday as part of her present. I love the mix of colours and although the papers are more cream  than the photos the page really works well, better than in the photo. I used my Tim Holtz perfect pearls to spritz the page and stamped on two of my favourite quotes. The one is just "Friendship" to which I added "isn't a big thing, it's a million little things" and the other one is "Live in the moment and make it so special that it will be worth remembering".

I cut the banners from all the different papers and adhered them to some bakers twine which I had stuck on the page. I kept the pointy banner in cream only and then added some of the square ones in the different papers. I finished it off with tiny clothes pegs that I found in my stash and then added a couple of butterflies to the page. I love this page and I hope she does too.

I love this next sketch. On the right hand side you could make a fold so that you could put in six more photos. My kind of sketch with loads of photos.

I chose to use these photos of the birds at my bird feeder. They fascinate me and I love to watch them especially when the feeder is full... I don't know how they know when it has been filled but they do and they flock around it. I used Bazzill Basics for this layout and one piece of patterned paper. I used my Tim Holtz die cut to make the birds and the birdcage and cut the birds out of three colours and then pieced them together to make the 3D birds. I then blinged the birdcage up because I could and used a piece of chain to hang it from the page. Lastly I added some flowers from Prima. This page is always going to make me feel happy, just like my birds do.

Finally here is this week's challenge that went up this morning, and this is the sketch.

This is what I did with it. Kept it simple. I don't know whose papers they are but I love them. I added the ribbon and then the flower from Prima and the MOMENTS sentiment. Clean and Simple.

Now I am off to make dinner. I have been on the go the whole day and I still have to pack all my stuff for TT tomorrow. I have missed those girls and can't wait to see them again.

I will post some photos of my trip tomorrow. So Happy Hump Day, make it count.

  1. Next time you are coming to town, let me know and I will show you all the scrapping haunts down sorry I missed you while you were here.

  2. Ah Bella I will... was just so rushed this time. Plus being with the boys put such a dampner on things :)
